lyrics

the chimes

Kneeling before the storm, through an old screen door,
sleepless with ideas and words,
framed by roses and thorns,
some ailments you just can’t shake,
and a few people’s lives you feel the same about.

The chimes on the porch say, I’ll see you later,
and a wave is more than they requested.
Understanding is where they are, and it’s where we all should be.

Today may be a good day to disappear,
for those who knew him could assume that the rain,
had cloaked him and taken him away.

Crash through the concrete jungle, hundreds of miles,
reckless with luck and passion,
fuelled by lightning sparks and fire.
Some questions you’ve endlessly sought,
and the future for which you’ll do the same about.

Let the waning lights finish what you’d started,
after all they knew you best.
Understanding is where they are, and it’s where we all should be.

Today may be a good day to disappear,
for those who knew him could assume that the rain,
had cloaked him and taken him away.

It’s understood that this where you’ll take your leave, with,
no reassurance that you’ll ever be returning.

Today may be a good day to disappear,
for those who knew him well could assume that the rain,
had cloaked him and taken him away.
